Tough Day At The Office For Tate
A fine day greeted the Western Cape Karting community for the final round of the WPMC Karting Championships. Tate Bishop was once again set to tackle the strong fields in the Maxterino and Mini Max Classes. Up to this point, Tate has shown terrific pace throughout the year, and should a few battles and decisions gone the young mans way, he would certainly be in with a shout for both titles.
On to Maxterino, and qualifying definitely did not go to plan. New rules regarding lap pace during qualifying was always going to throw a spanner in the works, and Tate just couldn’t get the clean lap he is capable of. Race 1 proved a tough challenge and after a tight tussle Tate came home in 6th. Just a second behind overall winner Charl Visser. A huge improvement in race 2 saw Bishop with a well deserved podium finish in 3rd before encountering issues in the final race of the day to put him out of contention for an overall podium.
Mini Max duties where somewhat more of what we can expect from Tate. He put his 94 Kosmic machine on the second row for Race 1 which after some tough fighting up front saw him drop down the order to finish in 6th. Race 2 saw Tate progress to finish 5th and completed his climb up the field to take 4th in the final race.
Overall, a good year comes to an end for Tate. 5th Overall in the WP Maxterino Championship to add to his 5th overall in the South African Maxterino Championship. 2017 looks even brighter for this young man so keep a lookout for Tate as he does battle again next year. He will certainly be one of the title contenders.
