Tate Bishop On The Double
Killarney’s Kart Track awoke to perfect, flowery Cape pre-spring’s day for the sixth round of the WP championship. Young Tate Bishop again competed in 2 classes on the day. The ever fierce and challenging Maxterino class and the new Mini Max Rotax Class powered by a 125cc water cooled engine.
Tate’s Maxterino challenge began with a solid time of 46.959 around the Killarney Kart Circuit to ensure a second row start come the first race of the day. A race that saw him in an epic battle with Kai van Zyl who managed to clinch 4th place leaving Tate to cross the line in 5th. Race 2 saw a stellar performance from Bishop who steadily climbed the field to cross the line in a fine 3rd. Race 3 was a dogged affair and some unfortunate moments saw Tate drop down the order. He still managed to come home in 6th which earned him a solid 4th overall for the day in this super tight class.
In the Mini Max class things were somewhat different. Tate showed excellent pace through the day and after an average qualifying session, which saw him starting on the second row, fought his way through the field to claim a well deserved 3rd place in Race 1. Race 2 saw even more improvement as young Bishop climbed to 2nd and that was where he finished that heat. Race 3 was much the similar as Tate maintained his form from Race 2 to come home a fine 2nd again and claim an overall 2nd place for the day.
