Almost Perfect Performance from Bishop at 3rd Regional
A cool morning greeted the Killarney faithful ahead of the 3rd round of the WP Maxterino and Mini Max Championship. The racing on track however was anything but, with young man Tate Bishop bringing the heat once again.
Aboard his number 94 Kosmic machine, Tate once again proved he is the man to beat in the Maxterino category by lapping the fastest in qualifying to start race 1 at the front of the pack. Race 1 was a dog fight throughout, with usual contenders Troy Dolinscheck and Kyle Visser taking the challenge to Tate and it would be Dolinschek who came out winner in race 1. Tate came home for a well deserved 2nd place just 4 hundredths of a second behind Dolinschek. Race to was more of the same, but Tate managed to grab the advantage and take the win ahead of Visser. In the final race of the day Tate extended his advantage. Both on the day an in the championship to come home for another win and overall victory for the day.
The biggest improvement from Bishop has to have been in the Rotax Mini Max class. Again, taking part in two top categories is not small task and by closing the gap to championship leader Joseph Oelz in terms of lap times, Tate can be most proud of his efforts. After qualifying fourth he put in 3 stellar drive which included two 3rd place finishes and an overall 3rd for the day. He is most certainly on the pace now of the front runners and will most definitely be out to cause them some troubles in the coming races.
Tate now looks forward to his home leg of the South African National Championship on 29 April.
