Bishop Shows Great Pace At 4th Regional
Fast race pace, close racing and some unfortunate calls by the officials where the order of the day for young Tate Bishop.
It was a cold but dry Winters morning that greeted the talented field of Maxterino Drivers. Tate worked the conditions well to qualify 5th fastest, a mere.0.2 seconds off the pole sitter. Race 1 was a tight affair with Tate taking the race lead twice. He eventually came home in a hard earned 4th only to be excluded due to an unforeseen technical mishap.
Race 2 was always going to be a tough affair. After exclusion in Race 1, Tate started the second race in last place. The young lad showed his class and quickly made his way up through the field managing to bring the 94 machine home in 6th place. A great effort all things considered. What was even more impressive was that he finished only 4 seconds behind the eventual race winner.
Race 3 was without a doubt the closest race of the day. Having lead the race at a stage, Tate crossed the finish line in a fantastic 3rd place. The top 3 being separated by 0.2 seconds. Speaking with the young man he said ” It was a good end to a difficult day at the races. We had race winning pace all day, but sometimes certain things are out of your control”
We take a break now from the regional action and head to Idube Race Track in KZN for the 3rd round of the South African Maxterino Championship, and Tate will be looking to challenge for top spot there.
