Best Yet To Come From Bishop
A fresh, bright and breezy Cape’s spring Saturday greeted the Western Province karting community as competitors gathered at the Killarney Kart Track for the seventh and penultimate round of the WP championship. Among those, Tate Bishop showed his raw pace and incredible natural ability to earn some well earner points in both his respective championships.
Starting out with Maxterino, Tate put his 94 machine on the second row of the grid after a tight qualifying session as usual. Race 1 was as challenging as ever with the normal front runners mixing it up. The lead changed a number of times before seeing Tate cross the line in 4th. Only 6 tenths separated the top 4. Race to saw the battle resume for Cape Towns finest young talent. And talent it was that showed Tate to a fine 3rd place, a mere 2 tenths behind overall race winner Troy Dolinschek. Things were not much different in Race 3 as Tate once again claimed a 3rd place which secured him another podium and 3rd place overall on the day.
In the Mini Max category, Tate continued to show his potential with two 3rd places and a second to claim 2nd place for the day. Super tight racing from this future champion and for certain, he is yet to show his true potential. Many believe a win is around the corner and all together very possible at the final round of both championships which takes place on 29 October.
